How many drafts until it’s done?
Writing is easy. Writing well is much more of a challenge.
I’ve spent the better part of the past year learning about writing well. As a result, I’ve discovered a passion and aptitude for editing.
During my studies, I’ve realized that the manuscripts I have are very early drafts. Well-written drafts, but first or second drafts nonetheless. I have no idea how many drafts NY Times best sellers go through before finally sharing their creations with their critique group, and eventually editor. The steps to go from draft to publication can be few or many depending on the writer.
