Studying the Waking Up Scene: Is it Really That Bad?
I just want to put on my fuzzy slippers and settle in whenever I read a post at The Other Side of the Story. There’s so much knowledge to be gained there.
I have a WIP where my latest chapter begins with a scene where the MCs are waking for the day. I’ve been tinkering with this chapter for weeks, I don’t know what’s holding me up…I didn’t know. I know now–that stupid opening. But it’s like half the chapter. This article has opened my eyes to another cliched trend that spoils good writing.
Back to the drawing board.
