Pixar’s Rules of Storytelling
I love cartoons–all sorts of cartoons–but Pixar…how I feel about Pixar borderlines on worship. I feel all the feels when I watch a movie or read (but that doesn’t always mean I’ve enjoyed where I’ve just spent my time), but the storytellers at Pixar have a gift of working me over, leaving me with a smile my face, and begging to be put through the gauntlet all over again (opening sequence of Up anyone?).
As a lifelong Disney devotee, I was worried when Pixar was purchased by the House of Mouse. Although I haven’t wanted to watch many of Pixar’s latest, I have watched them (not Planes, though. -_-), and loved them. Disney Animation had benefited greatly from the merger. With John Lassiter at the helm, we’ve been blessed with The Princess and the Frog, Rapunzel, and the latest phenom: Frozen. They stay true to Pixar’s formula and deliver engaging stories every time.
