Drama, as explained by Kurt Vonnegut

Kurt Vonnegut is one of my favorite authors. In this link he shows writers what drama is truly all about. Real life, according to him, is kinda dull. As only I think he could, Vonnegut diagrams for his class a few dramatic arcs as they compare to real life.

He explains that through storytelling we’ve come to believe real life has the same steep rises and falls like in fiction, and therefore create drama that isn’t there.

Thanks to Derek Sivers for sharing his experience.
